Dear Writers, Publishers, Publicists and Other Industry Folks,

Thanks for all the hard work you do, whether you’re spinning stories or press releases, whether you are organizing launches or punctuation marks.

Thanks, also, for dropping by B.I.P. and spending some time. If you’ve been hanging around here because you’re wondering if there’s a match to be made between B.I.P. and a specific book, then you’ve probably have seen posts that suggest that’s possible. It was…now it’s the stuff of legend.

Any work that I have ever agreed to accept via B.I.P. has been covered: here is a list of review materials received from 2010 through 2021.

Occasionally I covered unsolicited books from a publicist, with whom I’d bookchatted often enough that they came to know my taste, but most materials connected with me on the other side of a personalised query: I am grateful for all the publicists and authors who went to that extra trouble.

All those bookish folk who introduced themselves and bookchatted-particularly those who checked the Books Discussed page and current conversations to gauge the likelihood of a reading match-and all those who were understanding when I declined offers, particularly as issues with my vision required that I reduce my screen-time: much gratitude.

My review coverage of books on BIP sent prior to December 31, 2021 remains accessible, whether it was part of a tour or a themed post or a standalone review.

Beginning January 1, 2022, I request and receive materials from publishers and authors differently to balance the time dedicated to professional reviewing (elsewhere) with my informal and voracious bookish appetites (here). I aim to consolidate shipments to minimize the impact of transportation-costs (financial and environmental) particularly as I cannot accept e-pubs, and I minimise and avoid extraneous costs for publishers and writers whenever possible.

If I have been retained to cover a book as a paid reviewer, it’s still possible there will some discussion of that work on B.I.P.—and maybe even with a link to the published piece if it’s available digitally. (Editors, rest assured, any content here will be cited appropriately if you hold the rights.)

To bookchat casually behind-the-scenes (I was once a lurker too!), please settle into an easy chair and holler at me here, using the contact information on this site.

To find out more about my freelance work and availability, welcome to my desk, just a click away—it’s somewhere under all these books.

In bookishness,
B.I.P.
