It’s here. It’s finally here. Persephone Reading Weekend, hosted by Claire and Verity.
You’ve probably already seen a lot of buzz about it in blog land. There are a lot of Persephone readers in these here parts.
I’ve been eyeing their preparatory posts. Just hoping. And, in quiet moments, I’ve been half-thinking about what I might read.
But I didn’t want to actually choose a book (or, dare I say it, books). Because that would invite the fates to plop something else in my weekend that would interfere with Persephone potential.
So that’s where I’m at now. Choosing. I do have fresh-baked lemon cakes which beg for tea and a good read.
What about you: are you Persephone-ing this weekend too?
Thanks for all the comments! Persephone Reading Weekend was terrific. The lemon cakes did not last beyond Sunday morning, but they were best enjoyed fresh.
Thanks for the link, Steph: she has absolutely gorgeous shelves.
And have a wonderful time in the Bookshop, Kerry. You simply must have at least one True Persephone pulled directly from their premises with your own bookish hands.
It’s nice to have reading company with these grey-spined lovelies.
I am going to the Persephone Bookshop on Thursday! Very excited. I have a few of their books already, but I think I am going to add a Penelope Mortimer book to my collection. Enjoy your reading!
Lemon cakes and tea! What a perfect way to enjoy a book. Unfortunately, I don’t own a single Persephone. I’m not sure whether I’ve read any before in the first place. I ought to check them out one day. Hope you had a great time Persephone-ing.
It looks like you are well set for the Persephone reading weekend!
I was just on another blog commenting about this. Do you know I Prefer Reading’s blog? This post made me drool: http://preferreading.blogspot.com/2011/02/persephone-collection.html. I have the latest Persephone catalogue but that’s the extent so far of my collection. 🙁 Otherwise, I’d do this too!
Wow, those lemon cakes look divine! Hope you picked the perfect Persephone to accompany them. 🙂

What a lovely pile of Persephones and yummy cakes! I have started reading Penelope Mortimer’s Daddy’s Gone A-Hunting, but I know I won’t finish it this weekend. It’s good, so I don’t mind. There is only the problem of being persuaded to start reading another Persephone as I read about the books everyone else is choosing.
I am Persephone-ing with ‘High Wages’ at the moment and loving it! Your cakes look wonderful… Is there anything better than curling up with a hot cup of tea, a delicious cake and a cosy new Persephone? Happy reading 🙂
Ah, cake, tea and a Persephone is the perfect mix! Enjoy.
Choosing the reading on a whim is sometimes the best approach and then you can tell what time will allow.
I am, of course, Persephone-ing this weekend.
